European baby formulas are known for being completely natural and free from any chemicals. Organic is a term which is used for all organic products, including food, plants, seeds, juices and honey. Europe has banned most chemicals from being added to food and this includes preservatives, dyes and artificial flavors. For example, honey is often added to give baby something sweet but there is no way in which it could harm the child in any way.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate organic baby formula or other foods for infants and toddlers. This means that even companies that claim that their product is natural cannot be guaranteed to be safe for your child. Some baby formulas contain only one to two percent of organic ingredients but even then they must state this information on the product label. Other baby foods may contain as few as one percent of organic ingredients, so you need to read the labels carefully.
Organic Baby Formula
There are three organic baby formula alternatives available to you. These include soy-based formula, breast milk or cow’s milk-based formula and rice milk or rice syrup formula. Soy products are becoming more popular, especially in Asian countries where cow’s milk and soy based formula are used instead. Studies have shown that soy milk has a higher nutritional value than breast milk, especially for infants. However, the baby should still receive other types of protein and calcium from breast milk or formula.
You can purchase organic baby formulas in many stores, at health food stores and online. If you want to make sure that you are getting a completely organic product, you should read the bottle on the can or the back of the product very carefully. Many infant formulas contain other ingredients which may not be certified organic. These include artificial flavors, colors and sweeteners. In order to ensure that the baby is receiving an entirely organic product, you should make sure that the manufacturer lists the ingredients on the label.
Natural and organic baby formulas will provide your baby with lots of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. One of the best sources of these nutrients is to be found in rice and wheat derivatives. These products have a high nutritional profile. Other natural baby ingredients are fruit extracts and enzymes. Whey and casein protein is good for infants. These proteins can be obtained by using soy milk or casein.
Omega-3 fatty acids are great for infants. Fish oil and flaxseed oils are also great for this purpose. A few other sources of omega-3 fatty acids include mackerel, tuna, salmon and sardines.
